Programme Contents

Through practical exercises for examples, operating system, cyber range practice, students will develop a deep understanding of network security's importance and gain the ability to protect systems, data, and respond to threats.

If students attained “Attained with Distinction (I)” in this ApL course^, it is comparable to Level 3 of the Category A subjects of HKDSE examination; if they attained “Attained with Distinction (II)”, it is comparable to Level 4 of the Category A subjects of HKDSE examination.

Programme Features

  • The “Security Operations Centre” and “Cyber Range & Practice Centre” allow a wide range of teaching and learning activities such as scene simulation, competition, research, testing, drill and exercise. Students in these Centres can interact with virtual and cyber world status in real-time for experiments and training, such as network attack and defense, network invasion and maintenance, and even the embedment and detection of Trojan worm.
  • The cyber range has also achieved cyber range interconnection with the Yellow Crane Cyber Range of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the Industrial Control Cyber Security Range of Guilin University of Electronic Technology, and the Jiaxing Cyber Range of Zhejiang University, which are located in the national network security base will help cooperate online simulation tests and competitions.
  • Engage in role-playing exercises to simulate real-life situations and understand the responsibilities and challenges of different roles in protecting cybersecurity.
  • Explore and test vulnerabilities and weaknesses in network systems, learning how to patch and strengthen systems.
  • Gain hands-on experience in configuring and securing wireless network devices, taking necessary measures to protect against unauthorized access and attacks.
  • By analyzing real-world cyber security cases, students gain in-depth understanding of different types of attacks and intrusions, and learn how to respond to these threats, enhancing their problem-solving and response capabilities.
  • Arrange the industrial visits and professional sharing of the related industries, etc.
