Introduction
HKCT Diploma in Creative Design (Visual Communication)
Diploma in Creative Design (Visual Communication) will help students develop specific skills and methods fundamental to creativity and design processes of Visual Communication Design. 
 
This course has been included in the list of reimbursable courses under Continuing Education Fund. 
 
HKCT also offer Higher Diploma in Creative Design and Media (Visual Communication / Moving Image) programme, allowing students from various educational backgrounds to enroll.

Programme Contents
The diploma programme will help students develop specific skills and methods fundamental to creativity and design processes of Visual Communication Design. As the course progresses, students will concentrate on the skills and develop confidence in their own ideas and creativity. Students will receive guidance on educational opportunities and help prepare a personal portfolio for job interviews which demonstrates students' creative skills and work performance.

Programme Features

  • Professional Teaching Team: This programme is taught by a professional teaching team with extensive industry and teaching experience in higher education
  • Programme Content: More than 90% of the programme content is art and design and students are not required to study Chinese Language and Mathematics. Programme focuses on training of creative productions and digital media design skills
  • Software at Industrial Level: The programme includes different professional software such as Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects
  • Career Oriented and No Examinations: The programme is career-oriented which emphasises practical and applied learning. Students are assessed by professional practice and project
  • Diverse Opportunities: Students have opportunities to apply their creativity in community projects
  • Membership Recognition: Students are eligible to apply for student membership of Hong Kong Design Association (HKDA)

Graduation Path

Graduates can apply for a $10,000 Internal Student Articulation Scholarship to further study in the Higher Diploma in Creative Design and Media (Visual Communication / Moving Image), followed by a bachelor degree in related disciplines or join the field of creative industry as junior designer related to graphic design, event production and window display.

Internship

The programme offers a wide range of practical experiences,opportunities and participation in relevant life projects. Students may also have practicum opportunities in graphic design and production firms or relevant organizations. Over15 organisations provide practicum opportunities to students.

  • Completion of Secondary 6; or

Creative Studio

Creative Studio
HKCT recognises that creativity thrives in ample space. We provide this studio for students to engage in discussions, brainstorming, and creative pursuits. It is equipped with 3D printers, laser cutting machines, large-scale printing machines, and flexible partition settings. It is open 24 hours and can be divided into individual studios as needed, allowing design students to focus on their graduation projects.

Profession Design Lab
Professional Design Lab

Design Lab  is equipped with iMacs and professional software, including the Adobe Creative Suite for animation, graphic design, film production and image processing. In addition, we have 3D Studio Max, AutoCAD, Vray, SketchUp, Unreal and BIM specifically for students on our interior design programme.

Digital Media Studio

Digital Media Studio
This is a high-definition video production and recording studio with a control room. It adopts a tapeless full HD video camera, which can provide high- definition signals for live TV broadcast and rebroadcast through industry- standard HD-SDI that is comparable to local TV stations. Students can engage in diverse programme production practice here, such as talk shows and interviews. They can utilise chroma key technology via the blue or green background for adding special effects in post-production.

Visual Imaging Studio
Visual Imaging Studio

This studio is equipped with Sony A7S III full-frame mirrorless cameras, boasting ultra-high ISO sensitivity, as well as professional Sony FX6 cinema cameras capable of 4K 120p cinematic shooting. These are complemented by a comprehensive professional sound recording system, wireless microphone sets, and mixers. Professional lighting equipment includes LED fill light sets, softboxes, soft umbrellas, cinematic lighting kits, and a professional background stand (9ft x 4ft), along with a three-axis stabiliser. The studio features a complete lighting control system, ensuring that design programme students can create all types of visual content in the most professional environment.
