HKCT held flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 27th Anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR

 
 

HKCT (HKCT Institute of Higher Education and Hong Kong College of Technology) and Sha Tin Care Team (Heng On) today (1 July) held a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 27th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR). The ceremony was led by the "HKCT Flag-raising Team" with nearly 200 students, teachers, alumni and Sha Tin residents gathering at the HKCT Jockey Club Undergraduate Campus. Together, they sang the national anthem and paid tribute to the flag.

Guests attending the flag-raising ceremony included CHAN Sin Ming, Deputy General Secretary of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions and member of Sha Tin District Council, LEE Ching Yee, Janet, Deputy Executive Director of the Public Affairs Committee of the Federation of Trade Unions and member of Sha Tin District Council, KU Wai Ping, member of Sha Tin District Council, FANG Hao Liang, Captain of Sha Tin Care Team (Heng On) and Chairman of Sha Tin Area Committee (Ma On Shan South), Ada LI, Vice President of HKCT and LAM Sum, Associate Vice President of HKCT.

Ada LI, the Vice President of HKCT said that this year marks the 27th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong. With the implementation of the National Security Law and the Law on Safeguarding National Security, Hong Kong's legal system and enforcement mechanisms for safeguarding national security have been effectively guaranteed, leading Hong Kong into a new stage from chaos to stability and prosperity. "HKCT has always upheld the love for the country, caring for students, and is committed to instilling the right values in students, enabling them to differentiate right from wrong and make contributions to the country and society. This year, we are actively building close partnerships with different mainland institutions and universities to promote youth exchanges and enhance the sense of national identity among Hong Kong youth."

 
 

After the flag-raising ceremony, HKCT held an i-Opening class cum cultural performance, inviting groups such as Hong Kong – Gui Zhou Cultural Exchange Fund, Chinese music classes of Hong Kong – Guizhou Youth Association, Chiu Chow Association Secondary School and Talent Mill of HKCT to perform traditional Chinese music, Chinese dance, taekwondo demonstrations, etc. to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong with all HKCTers. In addition, there was also an exhibition of the "Hong Kong Basic Law" and the "Hong Kong National Security Law" on that day to deepen the understanding and promote the importance and significance of these laws to the principle of "One Country, Two Systems".
