Programme Objectives
With the Hong Kong government and society placing increasing emphasis on sports development, combined with Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau's joint hosting of the 15th National Games in 2025, the completion of the Kai Tak Sports Park, and Hong Kong athletes' outstanding performances in international competitions, Hong Kong is poised to embrace unprecedented opportunities in sports development. The government is actively promoting the "Popularisation, Eliteisation, Eventisation, Professionalisation, and Industrialisation" of sports, creating significant demand for talent in sports-related industries.
Therefore, the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) in Sports Management with Coaching programme at HKCT aims to cultivate talent in sports management and training, equipping students with professional knowledge and practical skills to meet the rapidly growing needs of Hong Kong's sports industry. The curriculum is closely aligned with the strategic direction of sports development in Hong Kong, enhancing students' professional capabilities in areas such as sports management, coaching, sports science, and sports event organisation. Additionally, the curriculum incorporates Olympic education, fostering students' sense of mission and social responsibility towards the advancement of sports. This aims to promote Hong Kong as a global hub for international sports events and to enhance social well-being through sports.
