Applied Learning (ApL)

Course Introduction

    Applied Learning (ApL) is an integral part of the senior secondary curriculum. It is introduced to Secondary 5 and 6 to cater for the diverse learning needs of students. ApL complements senior secondary subjects by offering studies with stronger elements of practical learning linked to broad professional and vocational fields. With equal emphasis on the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes, ApL aims at enabling students to understand fundamental theories and concepts through application and practice, and to develop their generic skills in authentic context.

     

    In the Cohort 2020-22, HKCT offers six ApL courses, including:
     ‧ PR and Multimedia Communication^      
     ‧ Exercise and Fitness Coaching* 
     ‧ Pâtisserie and Café Operations        
     ‧ Applied Learning Chinese (for non-Chinese speaking students) – Practical Chinese        
     ‧ Railway Studies
     ‧ Airport Passenger Terminal Operations

     

    ^ The programme will be renamed from Public Relations and Communication to PR and Multimedia Communication in the 2020/21 academic year, subject to the re-accreditation of the programme and its renaming being approved by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.

     

    * The programme will be renamed from Sports and Fitness Coaching to Exercise and Fitness Coaching in the 2020/21 academic year, subject to the re-accreditation of the programme and its renaming being approved by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.
